Maggi Picard, 82, passed away peacefully in Flagstaff, Arizona, surrounded by family. Maggi grew up in Greenville Rhode Island, and spent many years out West before settling in Peterborough, New Hampshire. She and her husband Russell made Peterborough their home for over 35 years. Late in life she and her husband Russell moved to Flagstaff to be near their two daughters, Veronica and Jill, their husbands, and three grandchildren.

Maggi was a middle school guidance counselor for many years, where her warmth, gift for listening, and a passion for teaching chess touched many students and colleagues. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome and valued. A natural conversationalist and friend, Maggi could strike up a conversation with anyone and often did—rarely meeting a stranger she couldn't befriend.

She was an avid gardener and could often be found tending to her plants. She is survived by her beloved husband, Russell, to whom she was married for 58 years, her two daughters, and her two sisters Nancy and Barbara. Above all, Maggi loved her family and friends.

Maggi will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, curiosity, and the way she made people feel that they mattered. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, friendship, and countless people who were better for having known her.
