Margaret Susan Stewart 

March 16, 1952 - August 22. 2026

Margaret “Peg” Stewart passed away from a bicycle accident that gave her a fatal head injury near her home in Sedona, Arizona at the age of 74.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, to parents William and Margitta Schhiltz, Peg spent her childhood in Downers Grove just west of Chicago. Her family moved to Bloomfield Hills near Detroit Michigan for the last two years of high school. Peg received a degree in Business Marketing and Retail from Michigan State University in 1974. That same year, she met Timothy A. Stewart and subsequently followed him to Ashland, Oregon where they married in October of 1981 and remained together until her passing.

Peg’s career started with selling auto insurance and progressed to a licensed financial advisor to employees at a major medical institution in Southern Oregon. Holding life, health, property and casualty insurance licenses as well as Securities Licenses.

An adventurous soul, Peg earned her pilots license and learned to sky dive, alpine and cross-county ski, belly dance, and scuba dive. She kept active riding her bicycle several thousand miles a year. But her biggest passion was rescuing homeless cats, taming the wild ones and finding them homes. Peg established a non-profit organization, Committed Alliance to Strays, (CATS), to that end and led that organization for 34 years before turning it over to others to retire to Arizona, but remained as a board member until her passing.

Peg was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her brother John Schiltz in Michigan and husband Tim in Sedona Arizona.

Services will be held at a future date on the island of Taveuni in the Melanesian country of Fiji as she had requested her ashes be spread at a scuba dive site known as Yellow Tunnel.
