Mary Anne Goodman, 82 passed away peacefully Saturday night, April 20th, 2013 in Flagstaff due to a brief illness. She held on to her smile, wit and sense of humor till the end. Mary Anne was born July 31, 1930 in Grosse Point Michigan to John & Mary Skantze. Mary Anne Graduated from Southeastern High School, Detroit, Michigan on June 23, 1948.

Not long after graduating from High School she moved with a friend Phyllis to Phoenix where she worked for the Telephone Company. At the time she started working for them it was called Mountain Bell, when she retired 25 years later it was called AT&T.

On April 17, 1965 she married John Austin Goodman in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was Good Friday that day and John and Mary Anne Had a good marriage. In the late 1960's John and Mary Anne built a cabin in Clear Creak Pines, South of Winslow. In the winter of 1967 when Arizona had the bad snow storm of 1967 John and Mary Anne got snowed in for about 10 days. What fun it was for them to talk about in later years.

In the early 1970 Mary Anne and John moved to Winslow and built and opened Winslow Funeral Home. Mary Anne would help John at the Funeral Home but also worked for Johnny & Helen Butler at Montgomery Wards from 1972 until it closed in 1986.

Her Husband John passed away on August 5, 1987. At that time she took over the operation of the Funeral Home and served the community of Winslow for several years until she found new owners.

Mary Anne was very involved in the community with many clubs and organizations. She was a member for the Woman's Club of Winslow, Soroptimist International of Winslow, Order of the Eastern Stars and Red Hats Standing on the Corner in Winslow Group. She loved to play Bunco with her friends on weekly basis and also enjoyed a good hand of Shanghai with some more of her friends in Winslow. Mary Anne liked convertible cars and red was here preference.

She is survived by her Sister-in-Law, Doreen Skantze of Florida, Nephews, Alan Skantze of Florida, Ted & Kristen Skantze of South Dakota, John and Brenda Skantze of Michigan and many Great Nieces and Nephews. She will also be missed by all her dear friends in Winslow.

She was proceeded in death by her Husband John Austin Goodman, Father, Johns Skantze, Step-father, Dallas Metcalf, Mother Mary Metcalf, Brother Vincent Skantze, Sister. Betty Jane Skantze and her companion of many years Woodrow, "Woody" Boggan.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for May 4, 2013, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Old Hubbell Trading Post located at The Winslow Chamber on W. 2nd St. It has been requested that everyone wear Red to her celebration.
