Mary Katherine (Kay) Eyrich, 74, passed away after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis surrounded by her sons on March 15, 2024. Born December 11, 1949 in Flagstaff, Arizona. Kay attended local schools and graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1968. She was very active in Aqua maids.
Kay met and married the love of her life George Edward Eyrich on May 24, 1969. They were married for 42 years until George's death in September 2011. Kay and George raised two sons together. Kay lived a full and vibrant life from the beginning to the end and touched many people along the way.
Kay was a childcare worker at Rockhouse Playschool, an active member in her church, and she even taught classes. She was a wonderful cake decorator and made many beautiful wedding cakes. She loved all kinds of hobbies.
Kay was a descendant of the famous navigator, Nathaniel Bowditch who was born in 1773 in Salem, MA.  He was an early American mathematician most noticed for his ocean navigation, and credited for modern maritime navigation. His book, published in 1802, "The New American Practical Navigator" is still carried on board every commissioned U. S. Naval vessel.
Kay is proceeded in death by her husband George Edward Eyrich, her parents Willie Joe McKenzie and Mary (Lemieux) McKenzie, brother Bill McKenzie and one grandson Charles Rowan Eyrich.
She is survived by her two sons George Michael Eyrich and James Edward Eyrich, one brother, Robert (Camille) McKenzie and grandchildren Stefyn Hunter Eyrich, Clayton Patrick Repetowski and Amber Elizabeth Marie Brown. Her brothers-in-law John, Carl, and Norvel Eyrich, and many dear friends.
The family will be having a memorial service in Kay's honor on May 24, 2024, at 3pm at Mike and Ronda's The Place, at 21 South Milton Rd., on the west side of town. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to your local cancer or diabetes charity.
