Mary Pickett, 91, passed away October 13, 2009 at the Olivia White Hospice Home in Flagstaff, AZ.
Mary was born February 20, 1918 in Joseph City, Arizona to Joseph Hartley Turley and Joanna "Josie" McLaws. Mary's grandparents, were original pioneers to Northern Arizona.
She was a loving wife, mother grandmother and friend. As a youth, Mary attended Joseph City and Holbrook High School. Mary has been a P.T. A. president and has served as a Sunday school teacher. Mary has lived in Page for the past 30 years where she was a library aide at Holbrook and Page High school, and served in the Family History Center. She enjoyed history, reading, sewing, writing poetry, collecting rocks and genealogy.
She married Jack Roderick Pickett on 20 August 1937 on Joseph City and was sealed 30 July 1974 on the St. George Temple. Seven children were born to this family. She is survived by her daughter JoAnn Mosier (Hershel), Mariano, Andy (Linda), Jack (Lori), Catherine Trudell (William) son in-law Mariano Sanchez, sister Nina Adair. Her posterity includes 18 grandchildren, 28great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Husband Jack, children Joyce Sanchez, Charles and Mary Jane Pickett who died in infancy; Her siblings Walter, and Georgia and by her fathers first marriage Harvey, Hartley, Goldie, Sarah, Rhea.
Services will be held 11am in Joseph City, Arizona on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, visitation will be one hour prior to services.. Graveside service will follow in the Joseph City Cemetery.
