Mary Jane Sidles, 82, died peacefully in Flagstaff, on Saturday, March 10, 2018 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Dr. Craig Sidles; children Tobin (wife Shawne), Tara (husband Scott), and Jennifer (partner Jeff); grandchildren Nate, Lindsey, Chandra (husband Wayne), Colin, and Jessica; great grandchildren Ryan, Makenna and Eil; siblings Donna Springer (husband Darwin), John Lind (wife Charma) and Sindie Pietz (husband Randy); and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Mary was born on January 5, 1936 to John Clinton Lind and Helen Greenlee Lind in Harcourt, Iowa, the second of four children. She was a caregiver from an early age and a talented seamstress and pianist. After graduating with an R.N. from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing, she moved to Mt. Vernon, Iowa, where she worked at the student health service at Cornell College. In 1957 she married Craig William Sidles wearing a gown of her own design.

Mary and Craig moved to Flagstaff in 1968. Craig was a professor and administrator at NAU. Mary completed her B.S.N. and worked as nurse coordinator at NAU student health services for 17 years. They lived in the same home for 50 years where they raised their three children -- enjoying the beauty of their backyard, serving church and community, and creating lasting friendships. Mary was a nurse for 60 years, a 50-year member of Federated Community Church and a P.E.O. sister for 55 years. Mary loved to work with her hands and relished an intellectual challenge. She would like to be remembered for her love of family and her faith.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Sidles home on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 1:30 to 4:00 pm. She will be placed in the columbarium at Flagstaff Federated Community Church in the future.
