Maxine Vickers 1920 - 2021

Maxine Marie C.H. Vickers, a resident of Flagstaff for 69 years passed peacefully from this life to her heavenly home on October 31, 2021 at the age of 101.  Maxine was born in Pattonsburg, MO in 1920 to Dewey C. and Stella Mae Petty Helms.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband's John Cech, Freddie L. Vickers and Hubert Harms, sons Larry "Mike" Vickers, John "David" Cech and grandson Larry Vickers.  She is survived by daughters Joy McFee and Lynda Young (Doug), son Loren Vickers (Susan), daughters-in-law Sharon Vickers and Jacque Cech, Hubert's children Vernon Harms, Reva Henderson, Ruby Adams and LaVera Goben, brother Jerry Helms (Joy), brother-in-law Keith Hoyt, 14 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 24 great-great grandchildren and many extended family and friends.

Maxine and her late husband Freddie Vickers owned and operated Fred Vickers Construction – General and Plumbing Contracting for many years in Flagstaff.  She was the top Avon Sales Representative in Arizona for 14 years, accomplishing this while helping with the construction business.   It was her joy to serve as a missionary on the Navajo Indian Reservation in her early years living in Flagstaff, the relationships built during this time were cherished throughout her life.  Maxine felt her greatest accomplishment was raising her children to be strong in character and happy in life.

Maxine was fiercely independent and able to remain active caring for her home, attending church and managing her apartments until the last two months of her life.  She was strong in character, always loving, serving and praying for others.  She will be greatly missed.

Maxine's celebration service will be Friday, November 12, 2021 at Breath of Life Church, 3500 N. 4 th Street Flagstaff, AZ.  Viewing will begin at 10am and the service will start at 11am.  Interment will follow at Citizens Cemetery in Flagstaff.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to Breath of Life Church and designated to Navajo Nation Water Wells.
