Nancy Louise Anderson

Nancy loved music, Nancy loved Christmas, and Nancy loved Jesus.

Born December 11, 1946 in Alexandria, KY to Louis and Pearline Wetzel, Nancy was the middle of three sisters. This "somewhere in the middle" start of her life embodied the essence of who she was. Nancy could be found on Sunday mornings singing beautiful harmonies as an alto in her church choir.  Never aspiring to be the star of the show, she was always there to provide depth, richness and beauty through the various harmonies.

In the fall of 1962, many years after her family had relocated to Lakewood, CO, Nancy met big man on campus, high school football star, and overall rascal, Roger. That chance meeting was only the beginning of the great love story that would include 2 sons, 6 grandchildren and 57 years of marriage. A graduate of Central Business College, Nancy worked in the banking industry for a number of years prior to the birth of her two sons.

1981, and a love for the Colorado mountains, took the family to Vail where every day was Christmas.  Amongst the pine trees, snow, and crisp morning air, Nancy would spend the next 20 years mentoring, encouraging, and modeling what a true love for Jesus looked like to countless young men and women throughout the western slopes.  Tirelessly working behind the scenes with The Sanctuary, Nancy provided thousands of sloppy joes, burgers, tacos, pizzas and jello squares to the young men and women she welcomed into her home. Her quiet gift of hospitality laid the foundation for many conversations about the thing she loved the most, her relationship with Jesus.  Every event presented an opportunity for Nancy to quietly provide depth, breadth and richness to the lives of everyone she encountered. She was the harmony to the consistent melody which placed Jesus at the center of it all.

The early 2000's ushered in the era of grandchildren. Desiring to be closer to this ever-enlarging family, Nancy and Roger relocated to the mountains of Arizona. Flagstaff provided the beauty of Vail, but the proximity to grandkids. True to her calling, Nancy quickly continued her passion for mentoring through her involvement with The Sanctuary, Christ's Church of Flagstaff, and Hope Cottage. She and Roger began hosting "Cousin Camp", and regularly traveled between Amarillo and Phoenix to experience everything possible in the lives of their grandchildren. Plays, recitals, musicals, birthdays, holidays, and sometimes "just because" were some of the many events Nancy was able to experience. Dozens of Target trips with the grandkids provided many lessons in basic math, taxation, and quality vs quantity. These lessons were always delivered in Nancy's deep and warm manner as she casually walked the aisles with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control.

On December 7, 2023, at the age of 76, Nancy passed from this life into eternity where she was greeted with the words "Well done, good and faithful servant".

Nancy was preceded in death by parents, Louis and Pearline Wetzel.  She is survived by her husband, Roger, sons David (wife Vanessa) and Steven (wife Kyle), grandchildren Peyton, Trevor, Riley, Kaylee, Addison, and Easton, sisters Susan Dupree (husband John), and Martha Marusic (husband Vlado), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Thursday December 21st 1:00 p.m. Christ's Church of Flagstaff, 3475 Soliere Ave. Flagstaff, AZ. Casual attire requested.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the missions fund of Christ's Church of Flagstaff.
