Nancy Carter, 65, of Williams, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010.

She was born on June 28, 1945 to Paul and Elizabeth Morel. Nancy was an avid hunter and fisherman and seemed to always take "wall hangers," but was a meat hunter first. She was the first one out there skinning, field dressing and processing all animals from big game, down to skunks off trap lines. Raccoons and skunks were never safe around her chicken coop. She enjoyed fly fishing in the High Sierras of California.

Nancy was a founding member of the Williams Animal Action Group (WAAG), and served on the board of directors as Treasurer and Vice President, along with organizing annual vaccination clinics. Nancy was extremely talented when it came to gardening. She had that "green thumb" and won the most blue ribbons at the Coconino County Fair five years in a row. She loved raising and showing rabbits. Flemish Giants were her favorite.

Nancy documented all inventory on the Williams and Ash Fork cemeteries along with a few outlying areas. She also compiled two Forest Service cookbooks, which were a big hit with the locals. Nancy was also very involved with photography, and also with genealogy. At times she even developed her own film. If you asked her to help you with either, she was more than happy to. Nancy had a deep love for her family and animals and it showed in her thousands of photos taken.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 42 years Thomas Carter, her son P.T. (Jennifer) Carter, her sister Susie (Bill) Baer and her grandchildren Mckenzie and Cheznie Carter.

Services will be held at the Williams Cemetery on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 10 a.m. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Hut, at 425 W. Grant Ave., in Williams.
