Obituary

Porter Blake Dixon, 23, of Mesa and formerly of Flagstaff, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, as a result of an accident at Lake Powell.

Mr. Dixon was born Dec. 31, 1986, in Flagstaff. Although he spent only his first eight years in Flagstaff, he considered it his home. He attended schools in Flagstaff and Mesa and graduated from Mountain View High School in 2005. He had a quick sense of humor, was kind, gentle and sensitive. He had a humble and positive determination, loved his family and his God. Even though his life was short, he had a great influence on his family and friends because of his spirit of compassion and happiness. He earned his Eagle Scout award and enjoyed playing sports with his brothers and sister. He loved music, wrote lyrics and played guitar. He also loved the outdoors -- especially camping, fishing and hiking. He spent some of his last happy moments doing so with his family. Everyone who knew him loved him.

Mr. Dixon is survived by his mother, Coni Porter Kimball; father Kenneth Dwight Dixon; and siblings Branden (Ashley), Jayme, Devry (Maggie), Kendria (Brandon) Holyoak, Tanner, and Connor Kimball. He was a real hero to his nieces and nephews. Also celebrating his life are his stepmother, Janet Maynes Dixon, and his grandparents, Doris Dixon, Dwight Dixon, and Elden and Pat Porter.

A service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2152 E. Adobe, in Mesa. Interment in Mesa will follow the service.
