Randall William
Milton Hartsock
Jan 17, 1981 — Dec 21, 2024
Randall William Milton Hartsock, aka Randy Attacks, aka Randy, passed away at Flagstaff Medical Center on Saturday, December 21, 2024 surrounded by family and the Misfits playing in the background [most notably Where Eagles Dare, Last Caress, and Attitude].
Randy was born January 17, 1981 in Albuquerque, NM as the only son of Ralph Hartsock and Joy Gay. His older sisters, Annette and Wendy, eagerly welcomed the addition of a real-life doll to the family. As a young child Randy was curious about the world around him and interested in getting to know everyone, often walking up to strangers in the grocery store to shake hands and introduce himself. As Randy grew older, he developed a keen interest for the design and assembly of custom survival kits and emergency kits, prompting him to create Randy's WSG [Wasteland Survival Guide]. The YouTube channel he ultimately established for the WSG evolved into a knife review series showcasing in depth analysis of the form, quality, and general badassery of each knife. The knife community quickly embraced their new member forming channel alliances and deep friendships across the globe. Randy also introduced short comedy skits into the channel typically featuring his beloved pups, Bear and Violet. The channel, at the time of the writing of this obituary, Randy's WSG, had 1.61K subscribers and 769 videos. Randy was also a healthcare provider working at Hospice as a nursing assistant, and later attaining his degree as a Registered Nurse.
Randy is survived by his father, Ralph Hartsock of Texas, mother, Joy Gay and sister, Annette Hartsock of Flagstaff, sister, Wendy Hartsock of Denver, his beloved nephews, Brian and Isaac Myers, and nieces, Atira Hartsock and Chrisette Nicks of Flagstaff, his loving in-laws Cody, Kamden, and Kylee Myers, as well as many family members in Colorado and Utah, and of course his beloved knife Community and friends.
Quotes:
"Now that's a knife", "Every day mate, every day", "Mikey, you should have gotten that knife"
Randy will be dearly missed by many. His family will hold a celebration of life event in the coming months. A YouTube memorial hosted by the knife community can be found on The Slippy & Thrifty Show Ep79 - Remembering Randy.
