Raymond (Ray) Navarro, 99, (Our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many, was called by our Lord on October 13, 2018.  Ray was born February 9, 1919 in Flagstaff, AZ to Ramon and Isabel Torres Navarro.

He married the love of his life, Adela Navarro, his wife of 67 years.  He is survived by his children; Rudy Navarro (Delores) and Rosemarie Trevino (Peter). Also, two grandsons, Rudy Navarro and Randy Navarro (Margaret), and four great grandchildren, Victor, Victoria, Desiree, and Anthony Navarro.

Ray was predeceased in death by two brothers, Bernard and Joe Navarro and his five sisters, Margaret Martinez, Mercedes Magana, Mary Goitia, Olga Goitia and Lucy Fajardo.

As a young man, Ray was very active in the Monterey Club and was the star pitcher for their softball team.  He graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1938.  While he was in high school he worked for Art Music Shop where he was introduced to electronics.

He was drafted into the Navy on May 19, 1944 and served as a Radio Specialist aboard the USS-SPC 23, a small all-purpose ship patrolling the waters of the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged on January 26, 1946. He was in Buckner Bay off Okinawa when World War II ended,

Ray returned to Flagstaff and resumed work at the Art Music shop which eventually became the Northern Arizona Amusement Company. His responsibilities were servicing juke boxes and cigarette machines in Flagstaff, Williams, the Grand Canyon, Sedona and the reservation – Cameron, the Gap and Tuba City.  He remained with the company for over 40 years and retired in 1986 as President of the company.  While still working at Northern Arizona Amusement Company, Ray and his wife opened a Mexican food restaurant called La Estrellita on Humphrey Street from 1956 to 1960.

Ray was active in the Boys Clubs of America in the Flagstaff area and served on the Parish Council for Nativity Parish.  He had a great love for the outdoors and spent many years hunting, fishing and just enjoying the beautiful forests in Northern Arizona.

He and his wife, Adela, moved to Prescott in 1998.

Services will be held, October 26, 2018, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Flagstaff, AZ.  The rosary will be at 9:30 AM followed by the funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Prescott Meals on Wheels or Prescott Maggie's Hospice.
