Obituary

On December 8th 2023 the world lost an amazing light with the passing of Reva Lou Lovelady (Windham). Born on August 27th 1940 in Leadville, Colorado, Reva enjoyed 83 years of life, with 43 of them being spent married to the love of her life, Ernest J. Lovelady, her "Ernie J".  For those that knew her, she had an infectious laugh and a smile that could warm the coldest of hearts. She loved to play golf, travel, play MahJong with her girlfriends, spend time with her family, friends and dogs, play Cribbage, read and was an avid fan of Ancestry.com where she spent hours researching our families. Her light shines through all who ever crossed her path.

She is preceded in death by her parents James Carter and Lucille Windham, and her brother LeRoy Windham. She is survived by her husband Ernest J. Lovelady, son Stephen LeRoy Craig, daughters Penny Jo Lovelady-VanVuren, and Reva Nicole Lovelady, as well as her grandsons Hunter, Ryder, Jesse and James; her Great Grandson Dakota James Lovelady, as well as her nephews Brett and Scott Windham. Per her wishes, there will not be a service for anyone other than immediate family. Thank you for understanding.

Reva was a dedicated wife and mother who never missed a moment to tell her family that she loved them. Her bright spirit and belief in a silver lining are two things that brought people to her side. She cherished her friends as family, something she hoped they always knew, no matter the distance that life often put between her and those she loved. Fly high our angel. Your memory will carry us through until we meet again.

The most beautiful word on the lips of mankind is the word "Mother,"

and the most beautiful call is the call of "My mother."

It is a word full of hope and love,

a sweet and kind word coming from the depths of the heart.

The mother is everything –

she is our consolation in sorrow,

our hope in misery, and our strength in weakness.

She is the source of love, mercy, sympathy, and forgiveness….

Everything in nature bespeaks the mother.

The sun is the mother of earth and gives it its nourishment of heart;

it never leaves the universe at night until it has put the earth to sleep to the song of the sea and the hymn of birds and brooks.

And this earth is the mother of trees and flowers.

It produces them, nurses them, and weans them.

The trees and flowers become kind mothers of their great fruits and seeds.

And the mother, the prototype of all existence, is the eternal spirit, full of beauty and love.
