On April 13th, Richard E Helm, husband, father, retired firefighter, woodworker, mountain man, and friend, passed away. He is survived by his wife, Maria Helm, son Alex Helm (24), daughter
Rebecca Helm (27) and sister Paula Helm.
Born in Dallas Texas on July 27th, 1949, Rick moved to Flagstaff after falling in love with the mountains. For 63 years Rick lived a full and noble life. While saving lives and homes as a
firefighter, he built the house in which his family now lives, volunteered at animal shelters, and was one of the kindest husbands and fathers a person could wish for. After retirement from the fire department he accepted a position at Meteor Crater, where he shared his love of science and the natural world with people from across the globe.
He is predeceased by both his parents, Louise and Ernest, and his sister Jerry.
Memorial services for Rick will be held on Saturday, May 4th, at 11:00 AM at the Federated
Community Church, 400 West Aspen St, Flagstaff, AZ,86001, including a fireman's honor guard
