Obituary

Richard Arthur Miller, 87, Korean War veteran, dedicated medical professional and beloved family man, passed away on October 8, 2018. Born in Fresno, California, he lived since 1976 in Flagstaff, a locale he dearly loved, with his cherished wife of 54 years, Maria.

Always with a glint in his eye, Richard was a dedicated storyteller and raconteur. Nothing humorous ever escaped his notice. He also was a brilliant historian, with an encyclopedic knowledge of world and national historical events.

Richard earned a bachelor's degree in medical radiography from Northern Arizona University, then served for years as a radiologic technologist in hospitals across Northern Arizona, most notably in Tuba City. Upon his retirement, he was awarded an Indian Health Service award for 15 years of outstanding contribution.

Richard is survived by his wife; sons David and Billy; daughters-in-law Sandi and Libby; and grandchildren Mabel, Kaira, Clara and Cade. Services will be at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church in Flagstaff, on Friday, October 12. There will be a rosary at 9:30 a.m., mass at 10:30 a.m., military honors at Calvary Cemetery and a reception at San Francisco de Asis.
