Bob Crozier, a longtime member of the Flagstaff community, passed away at home on December 8, 2023.  He is survived by his daughter Deb McCullough (East Lansing, MI), sons David Crozier (North Hollywood, CA), Dennis Crozier (Portland, OR), his sister Marcia Corbett (Green Valley, AZ) and their families, including four grandsons. He was predeceased by Joy Crozier, his wife of 62 years, and his brother Bruce Crozier.

Bob was a native Arizonan. He was born in Ft. Huachuca, AZ on November 23, 1927, lived in rough-and-tumble Winslow from 1930-1940, then moved back to the Ft. Huachuca area. After graduating from Tombstone High School, he attended the University of Arizona for a year, then moved with his parents and siblings to Flagstaff.  Bob spent a year working as a firefighter at the Navajo Army Depot and Grand Canyon, which he loved, but he decided to commit to being a full-time student. He enrolled in Arizona State Teachers College at Flagstaff, which eventually became Northern Arizona University.  Bob later said that attending college at ASTC was one of the best decisions he ever made. He was elected Homecoming King in 1952, graduated in 1953 and was poised to start his teaching career in Casa Grande when Uncle Sam came calling. Bob served in Japan with the Central Intelligence Corps and also played on the Army's baseball team, which travelled across Japan. After Bob returned to Flagstaff, he worked as a civilian at the Navajo Army Depot where he met his wife, Joy. They were married in 1957.

In 1967, Bob found his calling when he went to work at Northern Arizona University as the Assistant Director of Career Placement and Alumni Secretary, eventually becoming the Assistant Director of University Development and the NAU Foundation Manager. Bob loved working with NAU students, who gravitated to his encouraging smile and friendly, warmhearted manner. He was an ambassador for NAU for more than 40 years, visiting high schools and alumni around the state, as well as working with businesses, organizations, and legislative leaders to advance NAU. Bob never forgot a name and was frequently visited by students whose lives he had touched years earlier. He was voted by students as the Homecoming Dedicatee in 1975 and was recognized for his leadership of the NAU Foundation with the Arizona Board of Regents' Award for Outstanding Service to Higher Education in 2011. He established the Bob and Joy Crozier Leadership Award at NAU, which provides a scholarship to a deserving NAU student each year. Bob was a devoted fan of the Lumberjacks and a fixture at NAU football and basketball games for more than 50 years.

Bob was also committed to his family, neighborhood and community. He was a member of the Flagstaff Elks Lodge, the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, coached Little League baseball, shot hoops in the driveway, and attended countless sporting events and band concerts that involved his kids. A colleague of Bob's noted that he had a way of attracting kind and good people then surrounding them with his own kindness and compassion. He will be missed by his family, his neighbors and the many people whose lives he touched.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held on March 16, 2024, at 2 pm, at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 423 N Beaver St, Flagstaff, AZ 86001. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests contributing to the Bob and Joy Crozier Leadership Award Fund (#1288), Northland Hospice or a charity of your choice.
