Ronald Alex Benford
Born March 21, 1957 in Denver, Colorado. Age 51 and a resident of Flagstaff, Arizona, died on June 27, 2008. Ron served in the US Navy from 1975 to 1978 and was stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk in Bremerton, Washington. He was employed by Optical Coating Laboratory of Santa Rosa/Sebastopol, California for 22 years (from 1980 to 2001) and worked at the Rio de Flag Water Treatment Facility in Flagstaff, Arizona for the past 2 years. Ron enjoyed the outdoors and loved hiking and biking. His many hobbies and interests included woodworking, laser craft, furniture making, terrariums, ceramic art, copper enameling and photography. He is survived by a daughter, Brooke Benford of San Francisco, California and son, Darren Benford of Rhonert Park, California; his mother, Janette Davis of Alpine, Arizona; father, Donald Benford of Crescent Valley, Nevada; brother, John Benford of San Jose, California; sister, Maurine Benbow of Yuma, Arizona; as well as 3 nephews, 4 nieces, and many extended family and friends in the Flagstaff area. We love you and miss you, Ron. You will always remain very dear and close to our hearts. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the First Congregational Church, 740 N. Turquoise Drive, Flagstaff, Arizona (on the corner of Turquoise Drive and Switzer Canyon Road). Call 774-0890 for directions.
