Ruby Gardner McHood passed away on September 1, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona. Ruby was born September 16, 1913 in Snowflake, Arizona. She lived in Lakeside, Showlow and Snowflake as a child and moved to Winslow in 1936. There she worked as an "original" Harvey Girl at the La Posada Hotel. She met and married the love of her life Hubert "Mac" McHood on March 24, 1937. They moved into their home where she lived the rest of her life. She loved to dance and travel and was a cornerstone of Winslow history. She had three sons, Gordon (Linda) of Winslow, Joel (Marilyn) of Winslow and Happy Jack, and Jim (Elizabeth) of Prescott, all living. She is survived by two brothers, Ralph Gardner of Layton, Utah; McRae Gardner of South Jordan, Utah; and one sister, Elaine Malone of Mesa, Arizona; 11 grandchildren 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Mac" McHood, her parents, two brothers and three sisters and one grandchild. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 6, at 1:00pm in the Winslow LDS Stake Center, Kinsley & Lee in Winslow, Arizona. Visitation will be held one hour previous to the service.
