Life long Williams resident Sheila Lys Kennedy passed away June 14, 2011 In Williams, Arizona. Sheila was born March 17, 1933 in Williams, Arizona and prior to World War II moved to Tusayan for a few years. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, she relocated to Sonoma, California and lived with a Italian family while her father worked the ship yards in San Francisco building ships for the war effort. Sheila relocated to Williams shortly after World War II. Sheila graduated from Williams High School in 1951 where she was a cheerleader and played softball. Sheila spent a few years in Long Island, New York and lived life abroad in Central and South America. She returned to the United States in 1967 and graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1972. She was a substitute teacher at Williams High School and obtained employment with the United States Forest Service. In 1984 Sheila located to Page, Arizona where she owned and operated "Sheila's Dam Shop" located in the visitor's center at Glen Canyon Dam for 14 years. In 1998 Sheila retired and relocated back to her roots in Williams where she spent the remainder of her life.

Sheila loved Williams, she loved to share William's deep history with anyone with an ear willing to listen and learn. Many long time locals would frequently ask Sheila to indentify residents and locations in old historic photographs. Sheila's greatest loves in her life besides her children was reading, music, and cooking. During her life she enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and loved all animals.

Sheila will be joining her parents James and Helen Kennedy. She is survived by her sister Victoria Gates of Globe, Arizona, son John James Calley and wife Mary Ellen Calley of Williams, Arizona, son Griffyd Adams Calley and wife Bonnie Lynn Calley of Ft. Huachuca, Arizona, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild .

Service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday June 20th at the St John's Episcopal-Lutheran CongregationSt John's Episcopal-Lutheran Congregation Church in Williams. Burial will follow at Williams City Cemetery.
