U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Eric Lindstrom, 27, lost his life in Operation Enduring Freedom on July 12th from wounds received in combat at Barg-e-Matal, Afghanistan. Sgt. Lindstrom proudly served with the 1/32nd infantry of the 10th Mountain Division out of Ft. Drum, New York.

Eric was born and raised in Flagstaff attending Sechrist Elementary, Flagstaff Jr. High, and graduating from Flagstaff High School in 1999. He was active in Boy Scout Troop #33 and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also a member of the Federated Community Church and enjoyed playing baseball while growing up.

Eric joined the Army in 1999 and completed basic training at Ft. Benning, Georgia, then spent two years in Schweinfurt, Germany with a mortar company before transferring to Ft. Polk, Louisiana. He was with the invasion into Sadr City, Baghdad, Iraq in 2003.

Eric served with the Flagstaff Police Department for several years before re-enlisting in the U. S. Army and being assigned to Ft. Drum.

He married the love of his life, Tara Fantetti, in July of 2007 and loved her and their twin daughters, Riley and Olivia above all else. Their twins were born one week after he deployed to Afghanistan and he was able to come home to be with them for two weeks while they were still in the hospital.

Eric is survived by his wife, Tara, his daughters Riley and Olivia, his mother Kathy, his father Ric, step-brother Jake, and grandmother Mary O'Hara.

There will be at time for those who choose to come pay their last respects at a closed casket wake from 630 to 830 Wednesday evening at Norvel Owens Mortuary Chapel. Funeral services will be Thursday 1pm at the High Country Conference Center graveside services will follow at the Citizens Cemetery with full Military Honors
