Stephen Charles Konves

Steve Konves, 74, passed away June 24, 2026 in Munds Park, AZ. Born May 11, 1952 in Warsaw, IN, he soon moved with his family to Phoenix, AZ. Steve found his way to Flagstaff, AZ in the 1970's. Steve had many professions in his life and was a self proclaimed "workaholic". He found much joy in talking with people whether through helping them obtain a mortgage, selling them a set of cookware or fixing their vacuum. Throughout his life Steve sought out fun and adventure. He enjoyed playing softball, racquetball, taking long walks and above all else paragliding. He could be found fearlessly soaring above his favorite hills, Merriam Crater, Mt. Elden or Apache Maid. Steve often spoke of his church being in the air, flying with the eagles. While on the ground, he was always looking up and naming the day's cloud types, noting the wind direction and watching to see where the birds were catching thermals. Although Alzheimer's took many things from him, it never took his love of the sky. Steve is survived by his wife and caregiver Elizabeth Konves, daughters Stephanie Konves, Genevieve (Dan) Vanderlip, Meredith (Mark) Williams, step daughter Sarah (Clint) Fink, grandchildren Everleigh, Malek and Aliyah, sister Marcia (Tom) Harris, his nieces and nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Lois (Teeter) Konves and first wife Virginia "Ginny" Bellefeuille Konves. A celebration of life will be held on August 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Elks Lodge of Flagstaff, 2101 N San Francisco St, Flagstaff, AZ 86001
