Obituary

Steven J. Carlson, age 70, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at his home in Williams, AZ surrounded by his most treasured four-legged friend Lakota.

He was born on May 12th 1947 in Los Angeles, California to Verne and Ann Marie Carlson, where he grew up in the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, California. Steven attended Van Ness Avenue Elementary, Le Conte Middle School and Warren High School.

From the time he was out of diapers into his young adult life, Steven spent time with his two younger brothers at their father's place of work, the local ice skating rink where Steven competed in speed skating. Through his youth, Steven spent four years with The Boy Scouts of America, enjoying his passion for outdoor activities. Later, he enlisted in the United States Army and traveled overseas to fight in the Vietnam War, where he served our Country proudly. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to California where he met his former spouse, of which they had a daughter together, his pride and joy. Steven retired as an electrician and later moved to the quaint town of Williams, AZ, where he was fond of the town's Old West heritage.

During his spare time he took enjoyment in reading and learning about Native American History, folklore of European countries, and discovery of his family's genealogy. Steven was a very good artist, loved photography and had much gratification with his craft of gunsmithing.

He is survived by his loving family members; mother Anne Marie Lyman (Carlson), his daughter Jamie Carlson, his two brothers Jeff and Donny Carlson, and his former spouse Terri Carlson.

A military honored memorial service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, on Friday, August 25, 2017 @ 9:00 am, located at 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024. Ceremony will include a folding presentation of the US flag, sounding of taps and rifle firing. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Vietnam Veterans of America (www.vva.org/donate/), In the Memory of Steven J. Carlson.
