Obituary

Susan K. Howell, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, September 24, 2017 after a short but fierce battle with breast cancer. She was born March 17, 1954 in Seattle, WA to Richard and Ivy Ashmore and was a 1972 graduate of Del Norte High School in Albuquerque, NM. Sue had a huge heart and was simply the best, (Wife, Mother, Daughter, Granny, Sister, Aunt, Friend) caregiver and pillar of strength for so many. She cared deeply and loved passionately which inspired us all daily to open up our hearts to family and friends. Sue was incredibly proud of the family she had "collected" over the years and believed that friends were the family she chose and generously included everyone, even inviting those she didn't know (Goose's Hunters) to her dinner table. We were incredibly blessed to have her in our lives and will always be thankful for the way she loved each and every one of us. Sue was involved and gave back to the community by becoming a Big Sister for the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. Known as "Team Mom", Sue participated, donated, and sponsored several of her Son's sports organizations; was co-founder of the Northern Arizona Hunts for Hope (taking Terminally Ill / Disabled Children - Wounded Warriors / Disabled American Vets - Hunting); member of the Flagstaff Exchange Club; and supporter of the American Cancer Society. She is survived by her parents Richard and Ivy Ashmore, husband Gary "Goose" Howell, son and daughter-in-law Jason and Gayle Benton, daughter and son-in-law Jolynn and Jeremy Weeks, Gary's son Greg Howell, and brother and sister-in law Bob and Dorothy Ashmore. Sue has an extended family tree of, a father-in-law, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren including Bodhi and Jett Benton. This was an unbelievable loss felt by all of her family and friends which simply leaves a huge hole in our hearts.

There will be a "Celebration of Life" for Sue Howell on Saturday, October 14th at 11am at the home of Gary and Sue Howell (Flagstaff).

In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to the American Cancer Society.

Sue was a Blessing and a true "Angel on Earth". Now Sue is an Angel – in Heaven"!

Now and Forever – AMEN!
