Silveria Baca, 84, died peacefully surrounded by family and close friends on Monday January 28, 2008 in Winslow, AZ. "Sylvia" was born in Belen, NM on February 18, 1923 to Eduardo and Manuelita Baca. She moved from Belen to Winslow with her parents and siblings, daughter Marguerite (Cookie) Baca and nephew Lawrence Perez in 1952 where they resided in Southside.
Living a full and happy life, Sylvia was dedicated to her Catholic faith attending Mass with the Madonnas and enjoyed being with people. In recent years, she spent much of her time at Winslow's Senior Center mingling with caring friends, enjoying mealtime and playing bingo. When Sylvia could no longer live alone, she was lovingly cared for by her niece Virginia Oso and family until she needed more assistance where she lived at Iona Padilla's residential home in Winslow in recent months.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents Eduardo and Manuelita Baca, daughter Marguerite Baca, her siblings Inez Perez, Liberato Baca, Vicky Reyes, Sammy Baca, and nephew Ricky Reyes. She is survived by her nephews Bobby and Michael Reyes of Flagstaff, niece Virginia Oso of Winslow, and nephew Lawrence Perez of Bernallio, NM and all their families as well as cherished Winslow friends.
Mass and Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2008 officiated by Father Bob Mathieu at Madre de Dios Catholic Church with interment immediately following at Desert View Cemetery, Winslow. Visitation will be one hour prior with rosary at 9:30 a.m. Family suggests memorial donations be made to the Madonna House, 213 E.
