Terri Schlimmermeyer, loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, died Sunday, February 5, 2012, at the age of 89, in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Born Theresa Mancini, in Manhattan, Terri continued to define herself as a "New Yorker" even after moving to Sedona, Arizona, more than 30 years ago. She grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Bay Ridge High School. She spoke Italian and French and loved the opera.
But her true love was her husband, Carl, who she met when she worked as an executive secretary at Macy's on 34th Street in New York. They were married for 53 happy years until Carl's death in 2010. They enjoyed dancing, traveling, and entertaining. Terri adored her two grandsons, Justin and Ian Markiewicz, and was also devoted to her three sisters, who played a very important role in her life.
Terri is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gretchen and Matt Markiewicz, her two grandsons, Justin and Ian Markiewicz, and her sisters, Jean Siddons and Ann Stephan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, and her sister Mildred Ryan.
