Travis Jay Hoovestol was born on May 18, 1978, in Almont, North Dakota, to Duane and Patricia (Patty) Hoovestol. He went to Bismarck State College and North Dakota State University for his undergraduate school and earned his Master's Degree in Education from the University of North Dakota.

Travis met his wife, Monique Hoovestol, in 2010 in China when he was teaching there. They were married on February 3rd, 2014. They had two boys, Ulrik (6) and Xander (2). Travis loved his family more than anything in this world. He loved his wife unconditionally. He was the most loving, caring and devoted dad.

Travis was also a dedicated Christian. He loved and served God wholeheartedly.

Travis loved making friends and helping people. He loved to make people laugh and to bring joy to everyone around. He was funny, easy-going and he could talk to anybody. He has influenced so many people without realizing it.

Travis was a martial artist. He had been practicing martial arts for decades. He earned the black belt in Taekwondo in 2010; and the black belt in Krav Maga in 2022. Travis loved traveling. He lived in China for four years and he traveled around the country and Southeastern Asia with his wife. He proposed in Inner Mongolia; had their wedding in Thailand; spent their honeymoon in Malaysia; celebrated his 36th birthday in Nepal; and had a magical time in Palawan, Philippines. Travis had a lot of hobbies and interests. He loved watching sports and movies, riding horses and motorcycles. He was also very talented in leather carving and foam smithing.

Travis passed away on May 25, 2023, a week after he turned 45. He was survived by his wife, Monique Hoovestol; his sons Ulrik and Xander; his father, Duane Hoovestol; step-mom, Angie Hoovestol; sister Marlo Haugom and her husband Shawn; and brother Alan Hoovestol and his wife Pattie.

Travis was loved by so many people. He will be forever missed.
