Tyler James White went home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2025, following a tragic accident. Though his time on earth was far too short, Tyler lived a life marked by fierce love, unshakable faith and unwavering dedication to his family and friends.

Born June 2, 1984, in Gettysburg, South Dakota Tyler's adventurous spirit was evident from a young age. He spent his childhood hunting, fishing and tearing around on his three-wheeler, embracing every moment with orneriness and limitless energy.

Tyler graduated from Tongue River High School in 2002 and went on to serve his country with pride, enlisting in the U.S. Navy December of 2003. As a Damage Controlman, he excelled in every task set before him, earning numerous awards for his outstanding performance. He was honorably discharged and carried his military discipline and integrity into every chapter of his life.

Tyler began a career with BNSF Railway in 2006 where he quickly succeeded at many roles from conductor, train master, to locomotive engineer and a respected member of the safety team. He was not only valued for his expertise but also admired for his willingness to mentor others, his no-nonsense attitude and his dedication to doing things right.

That same year, Tyler met the love of his life, Lea. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he knew "he was in trouble"—and he never looked back. The two were married in 2008 in Sheridan, Wyoming and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter and the deep, unshakable bond of family. His devotion to Lea and his protective nature made him not only a strong partner but a truly exceptional husband. He was her biggest supporter, her fiercest defender and her best friend.

Tyler's proudest role was that of "Dad." He and Lea welcomed four incredible children: Maximus (2009), Kade (2011), Brock (2014), and his princess Brynlee (2016). Tyler lived for his family—his favorite moments were spent at his kids' events, wood working, shooting, hiking, or simply being present with his family. He would go several days on little to no sleep just to make sure he never missed a moment. Whether it was a game, recital or school function, Tyler made it his mission to be there, cheering them on with every ounce of his being.

He would spend countless hours researching and partaking in the next thing his kids became interested in—whether it was sports, hobbies or new adventures. He was a hands-on dad who never sat on the sidelines. He was always right there with them, fully engaged, learning beside them, playing with them and making memories that will last a lifetime.

In 2016, Tyler and his family relocated to Flagstaff, Arizona. They quickly made it their home and have been deeply blessed by the community they found there. Tyler formed strong friendships, built lasting connections and will greatly missed by the community.

Tyler had an incredible sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. His quick wit and hilarious one-liners were legendary and he had a gift for lifting spirits and bringing joy wherever he went.

Those who knew Tyler will never forget his larger-than-life personality, contagious laughter and radiant smile. He had a gift for making friends wherever he went and had the uncanny ability to light up every room he entered. He was hardworking, selfless and had a heart big enough to hold everyone he cared for.

Tyler loved Jesus deeply and wasn't afraid to share his own story, including his battle with substance abuse in his younger years. His openness helped many others find strength, hope and freedom. His faith was a cornerstone of his life and it shone brightly in all he did.

Tyler is survived by his beloved wife, Lea, and their children Maximus, Kade, Brock and Brynlee. Parents Jim White, Wanda and Brad Johnston; siblings Amanda (Zack), Jamie (Donnie), Brooke, Bradi, Ali, and Caitlyn; his Grandmother Ginger White; nephews Eli, Connor, Ryan, Skyler, Carson, Blake and Henry; nieces Afton, Jersey and Avelyn; and in-laws Tom, Corina, Lindsay, Drew and Lexy. Lifelong best friend Matt Kolden along with countless others who were blessed to call him a friend.

Tyler's impact on this world cannot be measured in years but in the love he gave, the laughter he shared and the lives he touched. He was the life and light of every room—and his light will continue to shine through the many hearts he leaves behind.
