Vernon Ganske, 93, of Flagstaff, AZ died peacefully at Olivia White Hospice Home on March 16, 2024. Vernon was born May 23, 1930 in Hazelton, Iowa to Ernest and Dorothy Ganske. He graduated from Oelwein High School in Oelwein, Iowa. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony, Paul and Richard, and one sister, Dorothy.
After marrying the love of his life, Mary Marsch, in 1963, they moved to Flagstaff in the late 1960's. He served the City of Flagstaff for twenty years, retiring as their chief building official in 1989.
Vern spoke at numerous churches in Flagstaff. He and Fred Vickers led the construction of the First Assembly Church on North 4th Street. He filled in for Brother Ford and helped, when needed, as interim pastor at the Four Square church in Flagstaff for about one and a half years.
Vernon leaves behind nephews - Paul Ganske, Dale Ganske (Joanne) and Lorin Ganske (Debbie), and nieces Brenda Hyde (Tom) and Delores Wuertly (Kenneth), Gloria Schneider (nee Kennedy), and cousin/caregiver Lesly Livingston.
You will be missed Vernon.
