Obituary

Victor John Rafinski, 98, passed away February 17, 2009 at the Olivia White Hospice Home. He was born in Brooklyn, New York to John and Valerie Trzcinski Rafinski.

Mr. Rafinski served his country in WWII and the Korean conflict with rank of Lt Colonel. He graduated magna cum laude from St. Francis College and Fordham University in New York City. He taught math and latin at Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix until he retired. After retiring his wife moved to Sun City, CA until 2002 when he moved to Flagstaff to be near his family.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Hattie M. Rafinski who passed away in 1989.

He is survived by his daughter Barbara Valentine and her husband Martin of Flagstaff, grandchildren Mitchell Valentine of Brooking, Ore., and Denise Valentine Henderson and her husband Ed, and two great-grandchildren Nichole and Colton Henderson.

Mr. Rafinski loved a good game of scrabble and was a master of crossword puzzles.

He will be laid to rest with his wife at the Riverside National Cemetery in California.
