Obituary

Virginia Evans (Begay) died peacefully in her daughters home on January 15, 2015 in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 101.

Virginia is survived by her daughters; Marie Redhouse of Many Farms AZ and Amy Denipah of Mesa AZ, 6 of 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Evans of Chinle AZ and granddaughter Fenora Denipah McDowell of Laughlin NV.

Virginia was born on January 23, 1913 in Sunrise Springs Arizona, of the Kinyaa'aanii clan, born for the Totsoni clan, her Cheiis are the Todecheenie clan and Naliis are the Tsenijikinii clan (to Towering House, for Big Water clans). She attended Ganado School and married Harold Evans, her high school sweetheart and later Navajo Codetalker/certified mechanic in January 20, 1940. After moving to Chinle Arizona, Virginia began working for the School District as a Dormitory Living Specialist.

A funeral is scheduled for 10 am, Monday January 19, 2015 at Ganado Presbyterian Church, 1 Mission Way, Ganado AZ 86505, with internment at a private cemetery to follow.
