Willard Jay Flinders
December 27, 1939 – January 8, 2007

Will passed away at home, after fighting his battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Marian Grubbs Flinders; daughter Kelly Mielke (husband Larry Waite); step-daughters Desiree Grubbs (Dean Lillroth) and Robin Grubbs; brothers Bob Flinders (wife Donna) and Chuck Flinders; grandchildren Cody Inman, Austin Mielke, and Arielle Cabrera. Will was predeceased by his son Kevin Flinders and his parents. He will also be greatly missed by his dogs, Lacey and Lil Bit, many friends in Rocky Point, and his old high school buddies. He was really looking forward to the 50th reunion later this year.

Will was born in Ogden, Utah to Lois Jane Petersen and Willard (Flip) Flinders. The family relocated to California when he was a small boy. He attended Venice High School in Los Angeles. After high school, he began his lifelong work in construction. Will moved to Flagstaff in 1983, where he met Marian and continued to build many houses.

Will and Marian built their first house in Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), Mexico in 1991, and have split their time between there and Flagstaff ever since.

Will earned his private pilots license in 1975, and spent many hours flying small planes, sometimes participating in air races, or just going to another airport for breakfast. His other favorite hobbies included water skiing and camping, riding his Harley, along with rebuilding and driving dune buggies on the beach in Mexico. Will really enjoyed his last trip to Hawaii a few months ago, and wished he could still body surf like a younger man.

He held a firm belief that the world should be run his way, and WillsWorld was born, with the motto "Learn It, Live It, Love It". We're sure many friends and acquaintances heard his views on the way things should be in WillsWorld.

At his request, no services are planned and his ashes will be scattered by family members at some of his favorite places.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Northland Hospice, Flagstaff, AZ.
