With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William "Bill" Michael Butler, who departed from our midst on May 11, 2024, at the age of 59. Bill leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever reside in the hearts of those who knew him.

Bill is survived by his dear wife and best friend, Maria Villarino. Mother Helen Butler, sister Gay (Joel) Mills, their children Helena (Sean) Payne, and Nick Mills, brother Johnny (Jane) Butler, their children Melissa Nelson, Johnny Butler III, Hillary (Spencer) Logan, Chance Hunter, brother Tommy (Sabrina) Butler, their children Rhett (Rachel Steetman) Butler, Rachel Butler, Grace Butler. Mothers-in-law, Lydia Villarino and Linda Villarino. Brothers-in-law, Raymond, Phillip, and Juan Villarino. Nieces, Tristen (Rudy), and Tyler.

Bill was preceded in death by his father Johnny Butler Sr., Father-in-law Edward Villarino, and Grandparents Don & Verna Bostick, Miller & Ellen Butler.

Born on May 7, 1965, to Johnny Butler Sr. and Helen Bostick Butler in Winslow, AZ, Bill's journey through life was marked by passion and kindness. After graduating from Winslow High School in 1982, he embarked on a journey to Phoenix, AZ, where he pursued his passions with vigor. By day, he landscaped, and by night, he drummed in many rock bands around the Phoenix area.

In 1997, Bill was hired onto the BNSF Railroad. He returned to Winslow to continue his career as a railroad conductor. It was during this time that he forged deep connections with his railroad family, becoming a proud member of SMART Union Division 113.

In 2014, Bill found his love in Maria, and together, they embarked on a journey of love and adventures. Their union was sealed in the vibrant streets of New Orleans, a testament to the colorful spirit that defined Bill's life.

Bill lived life large, and his greatest passions were music, travel, and art. His zest for life was infectious. Bill had a remarkable gift for connecting with people from all walks of life, and his genuine interest in others left an indelible mark wherever he roamed.

But above all else, Bill was a fierce and loyal friend in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. The memories shared and the laughter echoed in his company will forever be cherished as priceless treasures.

In the spirit of Bill's enduring interests, let us remember him with every beat of a Rolling Stones song, for they were the soundtrack to his life. As we revel in the joy of live music, whether in the largest of arenas or the smallest hole-in-the-wall dive bar, let us honor Bill's memory by supporting the artists who bring music to our souls. And as we wander the globe, let us heed Bill's advice to embrace the beauty of art, whether it be the masterpiece of a renowned artist or the hidden gem crafted by an unknown street artist. In these small acts, we keep alive the essence of Bill's passions and the legacy of his extraordinary life.
